2000, Arles

I once took a splendid walk down this road, with my friend Darcy. The trees were green then, and they had bark that looked like tan and gray camouflage. The fields on either sides were used for growing rice.

1985 - 1987, Loring AFB

Here's a photo of Loring Drive, on what was Loring Air Force Base, in very northern Maine. I lived on this street from ages 13 - 15. This image shows that all the houses here were torn down, presumably after the base was decommissioned in 1994. They were spartan four-plexes, reserved for officers and their families. The white rectangles you see were our carports. I can just make out where my family's house was, from the differences in shades of green in the grass.

1972, Okinawa

I was born on an island at the southern end of Japan. I don't remember anything about it, except for the lingering sensation of always being on the verge of a precipitous abyss.
